Terms & conditions

These terms apply to every booking made with Silk Road Tours Egypt through this website, by email, by telephone or over WhatsApp. Please read them before you book — placing an order means you accept them.

Who we are

Silk Road Tours Egypt is a travel company based in Cairo, operating tours across Egypt, Hajj and Umrah programmes, private transportation, ticketing and visa assistance. You can reach us at info@silkroadegypt.com or on +20 100 145 1383.

Booking and confirmation

You do not need an account to book with us. When you place an order we collect your name, email address, telephone number and country so that we can confirm the arrangements with you.

Placing an order is a request, not a confirmed booking. Your booking is confirmed only when we have written to you to accept it and payment terms have been agreed. Until then we may need to tell you that a date, a vehicle or a hotel is no longer available.

Every order is given a reference beginning SR-. Please quote it in any correspondence with us.

Prices and currency

Tour prices are published in United States dollars. Transportation and Umrah prices are published in Egyptian pounds and are not converted into other currencies, because the pound figure is the price we actually charge.

If your order contains items priced in both currencies, we will raise a separate order for each. You will receive a reference for each one. We do not convert between them or present a combined total, because doing so would show you a number that is not the amount we charge.

Where the site displays a price in a currency you selected, that figure is an indicative conversion for guidance only. The amount payable is the amount in the currency the item is priced in.

Estimated prices

Some prices — Umrah packages in particular — are published as estimates and are labelled as such throughout the site, in the cart and on your order. An estimate is a starting figure, not a quotation. We will confirm the exact price with you in writing before any payment is taken, and nothing is charged against an estimated figure.

Payment

Payment methods, deposits and due dates are confirmed with you when we accept your booking. Where an item on your order is an estimate, no amount falls due for it until we have confirmed the price with you.

Unless we tell you otherwise in writing, a booking is not held against availability until the agreed payment has been received.

Passports, visas and health

You are responsible for holding a passport valid for the period required by the authorities of the countries you are travelling to, and for obtaining the correct visas and any vaccinations or health documents required.

We can assist with visa applications where we offer that service, but assistance is not a guarantee that a visa will be granted. We are not responsible for a refusal, and a refusal does not by itself entitle you to a refund of arrangements already booked. Please check requirements with the relevant embassy in good time.

Hajj and Umrah

Hajj and Umrah programmes are subject to the rules, quotas and permit systems of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which change and are outside our control. Hotel allocations are made by district and category; a specific building is not guaranteed unless we have confirmed it to you in writing.

Transportation

Transport prices are per vehicle, not per person, and cover the route or period described. Vehicle categories describe a class of vehicle, not a specific model. Waiting time, additional stops and routes not listed are charged in addition and are agreed before travel. Where a route shows a price on request, it is because we have no published rate for it and will quote on enquiry.

Changes you ask for

Tell us as early as you can if you need to change a confirmed booking. We will do what we can, though changes depend on availability and on the terms of the hotels, airlines and suppliers involved, and may carry a charge from them that we have to pass on.

Changes or cancellation by us

Occasionally we have to change an arrangement. Where the change is minor we will tell you. Where a change is significant — a materially different hotel category, or a change to the main elements of a programme — we will offer you the alternative, a different programme, or a full refund of what you have paid us.

We may cancel a booking if the minimum number of travellers for a group programme is not reached, or where we are prevented from operating by circumstances beyond our control. In either case we will refund what you have paid us for the cancelled arrangements.

Circumstances beyond our control

We are not liable for failure to perform where it is caused by events outside our reasonable control, including war or civil unrest, terrorism, natural disaster, epidemic, adverse weather, strikes, airport or border closures and decisions of government authorities.

Insurance

We strongly recommend that you hold travel insurance covering medical expenses, repatriation, cancellation and your personal belongings for the whole of your trip.

Conduct

We may decline to carry or continue to carry any traveller whose behaviour endangers or seriously disrupts others, or who does not observe the laws and customs of the countries visited. No refund is due in those circumstances.

Our responsibility

We take reasonable care in selecting and arranging the services we offer, and we are responsible for providing what we have confirmed to you. We are not responsible for services you arrange independently, and our liability for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us for the arrangements concerned, except where the law does not allow that limit.

Complaints

If something is wrong, please tell your guide, driver or our office at the time so that we have a chance to put it right. If it is not resolved, write to us at info@silkroadegypt.com within 28 days of your return with your order reference and we will investigate.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the courts of Egypt have jurisdiction over any dispute.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published on this page when you place your order is the version that applies to it.
